A Tale of Christmas Gifts
I wish I had a gift guide of ideas on my husband throughout our marriage. My husband and I have had over 20 years of experience in buying each other gifts for Christmas, Anniversaries, and Birthdays. Some years have been very thoughtful. For example, my husband wrote me a love letter from each of my children from their perspective. I cried through each one at how beautiful they were written.
In our earlier years, we had some real doozies. One year, my husband bought me gas tank warming fluid to make sure that the gas lines didn’t freeze in my car. It was one of the only things remaining on the Dollar Store shelves on Christmas Eve. We laugh about that one and he has since really upped his game.
Sometimes my gifts to him have been elaborately wrapped with precision and care. Other times, the gifts have been handed to him in the very bag that the store gave me. To us, we show each other a lot of grace with gift-giving. With that being said, this gift guide has been a great tool for my husband to know what is on my wish list.
The Ultimate Gift Guide for the Homemaker
To prepare for our gift season, my husband and I have started talking with each other about gift ideas. With that inspiration, I created the Ultimate Gift Guide for the Modern Day Homemaker. This is a post that is a great inspiration on Christmas gifts for you, the homemaker.
There is a little bit of everything from self-care items to quality kitchen products to home decor that can be used year-round. It feels awkward giving my husband this visual of things that I as a homemaker would love to have. But, he was very appreciative of it as he used it for inspiration and some ideas of what I like (but may never buy for myself).
View the quick Gift Guide and then read more about the items (and why I love them!) below. Also, be sure to check out my post on Family Game ideas. There are over 20 board and card game suggestions sorted by age. These are great gift ideas for the children and families in your life.
This is by far my favorite kitchen item. I purchased this Le Creuset Dutch Oven several years ago and it is my go-to for cooking most anything. The large size accommodates delicious meals such as soups and stews, mashed potatoes (these are my favorite!), roast chicken, homemade marinara sauce, and summer vegetables using this dutch oven.
It is easy to clean and very durable. I really love cooking 1-pot meals because it makes cleaning up a breeze. This is the pot for that! There are several color options to choose from that will fit the style of any kitchen. This is a must-buy for the homemaker who loves to cook. Check it out here.
The Le Creuset Skillet is another favorite kitchen item of mine. It is heavy-duty and allows a cook to enjoy creating many meals. The heat distributes evenly and is very forgiving with the busy chef. This skillet has all of the benefits of a cast-iron skillet, but it does not require the constant care and seasoning of a cast-iron skillet.
Another favorite feature is this skillet can go from stovetop straight into the oven. I have also marinated meats in the refrigerator in the skillet and then placed it in the oven for an easy weeknight meal. My favorite use of this skillet is to make our Saturday morning pancakes.
This skillet can be placed in the dishwasher for easy cleanup. This is another essential for the homemaker’s kitchen. Check it out here.
I love lists and I love planning. I love notebooks and planners. This planner is a great tool for writing down goals and lists. The look and style of this notebook is modern and feminine. It has a classic look to it and would tuck away nicely in a purse or work tote.
The planner comes with 76 predesigned pages. The pages include calendars for 2017 and 2018 and the pages to fill in: monthly goals, monthly reflection and monthly gratitude, yearly resolutions list, habit and productivity trackers, movie and book lists, password list, monthly inspirational quotes and a lot more.
I almost would buy it just for the pen! The pen coordinates with the notebook so well. This affordable notebook would be a great gift for any woman. Check it out here.
These Salt and Pepper Mills are so versatile that they can go from kitchen to table. There is nothing better than freshly-milled salt and pepper to season a dish. The practicality of having these grinders right on the kitchen counter is a benefit in itself. The mills look nice that they can be displayed on the counter and they are small enough that they can be tucked away in a cabinet.
There are several levels of grinding texture to choose from. The salt and pepper can be ground to a fine texture or be very coarse. I love the customization and the ease of use.
Not only is this a practical kitchen tool, but it transfers to entertaining as well! They are elegant enough to adorn the dining room table and will give guests the pleasure of grinding their own seasoning for a truly personalized meal. Check them out here.
This gift is very dear to me. As homemakers, our self-care can sometimes take last place to the other needs of our household. While I brush my teeth every day, I have to admit that it is often hurried and I am thinking of all of the things on my ever-growing to-do list. I don’t have to worry about the health of my teeth with this incredible toothbrush. It does the work and the caring for me!
I have been a SoniCare toothbrush user for over 10 years. I love this toothbrush and love how it cares for my teeth. This is one of the smartest and customizable toothbrushes on the market. You can choose from several different types of teeth cleaning along with several levels of intensity. This is an all-in-one toothbrush that takes self-care to the next level. Check it out here.
These lights are one of the most creative and useful gifts for a homemaker. This is 33 feet of 100 decorative mini LED lights. This gift can be used year round for mantel decorating, parties, floral arrangements, and so much more. It is very easy to store and easy to use. These lights are a must for the homemaker who loves decor and entertaining. Check them out here.
This dainty mug is a great stocking-stuffer for the homemaker. It is adorned with a gold lipstick smudge. Not only is it practical, it would also look chic on a coffee bar or on display on open shelving in your kitchen.
This is a great gift for a dear friend or for yourself! Check it out here.
It is hard for me to find time to take a bath and relax. I think I would MAKE time if I had this bath bomb in my arsenal. The fresh smell of citrus and rosewood sound delightful. Check it out here.
If you are wondering what to get a woman who loves to cook, this Instant Pot Duo Plus is it! This is in my top 3 favorite things in my kitchen. My daddy was the first one in our family to purchase an Instant Pot. I got one for my birthday this year. My daddy and I schedule time together each month where we make our family a meal using our Instant Pots. It is so much fun and it makes cooking so easy!
The Instant Pot Duo Plus replaces 9 common kitchen appliances including pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, egg cooker, sauté, steamer, warmer, sterilizer and it makes cake, too! Check it out here.
This is a must-have for every kitchen!
This gift is so great! It is a tea-infuser with a small plate to set the infuser on when you are done steeping. The plate also acts as a cap to the cup for easy storage.
